DETAILS: NOVAC’s Making the Deal presented by Baker Donelson is a one-day film financing seminar designed to educate independent filmmakers, producers, attorneys and law students concentrating in Entertainment Law on the ins and outs of financing independent films and developing film investment deals in the current marketplace.
Taught by seasoned entertainment attorney and educator John Cones, some of the topics covered will include: film finance overview, documentation with which to approach investors, producer packages, investor motivation, finding investors, protecting yourself and the project when searching for investors, securities law compliance, and more.
Also, representatives from presenting sponsor and national law firm Baker Donelson will be guest lecturing on legal resources for Louisiana filmmakers as well as financing opportunities specific to the state.
The seminar will be followed by the Making the Deal networking event where participants, instructors and guest speakers will have the opportunity to get to know one another, familiarize themselves with each other’s projects and industries, pose further questions to Mr. Cones, and possibly develop ongoing partnerships.
