R-Squared Productions Commissions Local Artist

Monroe-based R-Squared Productions has commissioned local artist Lissy Sanders Compton to design the New Hope movie poster.

New Hope is R-Squared Productions’ latest feature-length film, which addresses teen issues, including suicide. The painting will be auctioned off with 50 percent of the proceeds being donated to The Children’s Coalition. The Children’s Coalition is a non-profit children’s advocacy group and a coordinator for Teen Screen, a mental health screening that benefits over 1,500 students in Ouachita Parish for issues like depression and suicide.

Rodney Ray, owner of R-Squared Productions, said, “We selected The Children’s Coalition because of their involvement with area teens.  We believe their mission and our movie go hand in hand. We’re also very excited to have Lissy working with us and look forward to seeing her finished work.”

The painting will be auctioned off at an event preceding the premiere of New Hope, which will be held on February 10, 2012.

In correlation with the painting, R-Squared Productions is encouraging all area students to submit their personal rendition of a New Hope movie poster.  As many paintings as possible will be displayed when the movie premieres at First Baptist Church in West Monroe. Additionally, students that submit a painting will be in the running to win three different prizes of $100 each. The winning artists will also be VIP guests at the premiere showing of New Hope.
